Wain Homes North West Gives Merseyside Hospice Garden Makeover

Karl Richmond, a contracts manager in Wain Homes’ North West region, was joined by 11 colleagues to give the grounds of a Merseyside hospice a summer makeover.

The team spent the day weeding, mowing lawns, painting benches, washing pathways, picking vegetables and turning the vegetable patch at Willowbrook Hospice in Prescot.
Karl also planted a rose bush in memory of his sister at the hospice which provides specialist palliative care for the Knowsley community.

The day was part of Wain Group’s ‘Helping Hands’ initiative, which will see more than 300 Wain employees volunteer a day to help out in their local community.
Ian Turnball, volunteer engagement manager at Willowbrook Hospice, said: “A massive thank you to the Wain Homes team for their help and support, it certainly will make a difference.

“They were a fabulous group of volunteers who were well organised, hard-working, an absolute delight to spend time with and who had a great work ethos of mutual respect and trust.  They would be most welcome back anytime.”

Wendy Dolan, Wain Homes’ sales office manager who helped organise the event, said: “The whole day was a fantastic experience from start to finish; a great opportunity to engage as a team and offer our help to a truly amazing place.

“We worked hard, supported each other and made a difference to a place that provides round the clock care to patients and their families. Everybody who volunteered was humbled by the experience and I am really proud to be a part of such an amazing team.”
