Nansledan

  • Location: Newquay
  • Overview: 540 acre urban extension of Newquay
  • Scheme: create a community of more than 4,000 homes, schools, a high street, supermarket and community facilities

Nansledan is an extension to the coastal town of Newquay, on Duchy of Cornwall land. As a result of our long-standing relationship, we were directly approached by the private estate. Together with two other regional builders, we’re working with the Dutchy to deliver this landmark development.

A shared vision

Inspired by King Charles III’s vision and development principles, we are creating connected walkable neighbourhoods where people can reach mixed-income housing, shops, offices and leisure facilities all on foot.

Enriching people, the environment and the economy

  • Engaging local people to design around their daily needs
  • Placemaking that gives people a sense of pride
  • Creating opportunities for apprentices and local trades
  • Building a community high street, schools and amenities
  • Reflecting traditional architecture and techniques
  • Using local materials like granite and slate
  • Establishing a greener infrastructure
  • Encouraging local enterprise through a community orchard

Our contribution

  • 194 homes - already built
  • 100 homes - currently building
  • 200 homes - planned for phase 5.2 in late 2023
  • Around 1,000 homes - in total over the life of the project
It’s a test bed for innovative sustainability solutions, such as solar slates and low U value methods of construction
